Clara continue to grow daily and make great strides in her development. As of Aug 12th she is 12 lbs 14 ozs. She visited the lung doctor on Friday and he gave her an excellent bill of health, her lungs sound clear and her does need to she hear until January. He did say that she will need the shots for the RSV virus starting October, so that is a shot once a month until March. Clara is now off the monitor and we are actually able to sleep at night without it.
We did our first assessment review with Clara's early intervention specialist Stacy (who just happens to be a long time friend of Krystal's). We were very encouraged by her assessment that Clara is developing normally, she is still a few months behind on most skills but Stacy thinks that she will start narrowing the gap between development age and actual age in the next few months..
We spent a weekend in Clemson & Royston, GA (home of Ty Cobb) Clara got to meet her Grandma Shirley and her great grandparents Ed & Evelyn. They have only seen Clara in pictures and were amazed at how big she is and how "normal" she looks. We spent the night with Aunt Judy and Uncle Larry and on Sunday we took them and Clara to get some Clemson ice cream and show Clara around campus and hopefully plants some seeds for the future. We will not demand that Clara go to Clemson, we will let her attend any school she wants (except for South Carolina or Ohio State).
We have introduced Clara to swimming with a trip to the Lake and to our neighbor's pool. She seems to enjoy the water (or maybe it's just being with her dad).
Cheers for now...
Mike
