Today was the first anniversary of Jake's passing. Both Krystal and I have been anticipating this day since before the holiday's. We were not sure how we would react to the emotions. Our dear friend Bob Miller approached me with an idea to mark the "anniversary" in a positive fashion and after discussing it with him, we decided to put the plan into action without telling Krystal.
Bob previously purchased a granite paver for Jacob and received permission to place it in the patio of Clemson University Outdoor Laboratory (CUOL) overlooking Lake Hartwell. CUOL has always held a special place in our hearts since our employment there during our college days. It has some of the most scenic views in all of Clemson and has very special staff that do great thing for kid and adult groups. Bob and I exchanged some emails with Charlie White, Lab Director and finalized the plan.

Today we (Krystal, Clara, Bob, and I) headed to CUOL with a Bald Cypress tree to plant. When we arrived Charlie and his staff welcomed us and we surveyed the tree planting site then showed Krystal & I Jacob's stone

Charlie and his staff prepared a small reception for us after we planted the tree, it gave everybody a chance to get caught up and enjoy Clara. We are planning to plant more tree's at the CUOL in the near future in Jacob's memory.

Krystal and I want to thank Bob Miller, Charlie White, and the staff of the CUOL for making this a very positive day remembering Jacob. Thanks to Auntie Judy attending the event and the moral support.

I think Clara just might like Auntie Judy?

Clara's visit with the Dr. Rowell went very well. She was impressed with her growth & development. She weighed 16lbs 13 oz and still is 27.5 inches tall. She is a little under weight for her age but progressing nicely for a micro premmie. She checked her dexterity and muscle tone and predicted she was not far away from standing and walking.

Happy 1st BirthDay to Clara Judith!!!
It has been one year since the birth of Clara & Jacob. I think back to the night in the delivery room and my first glimpse of Clara was a very small & very purple person and now she is a entering toddlerhood; time is flying. I may be biased, but I have never seen a prettier baby. Krystal and I could not be prouder of her.
Krystal threw a princess birthday party for Clara and we had a "few" people for cake an ice cream. Thanks to everyone for continued love and support both near and far, Clara had a great time as the pictures demonstrate.

Clara visits Dr. Rowell tomorrow for her annual checkup. I will posted her stats and any other medical news in the next few day.

Cheers

Mike

and Clara is out.....
