May 30th

It has been an uneventful two weeks for us. Clara has been making steady progress and no backslides. She weighed in at 7lbs 10z and is 20 inches long. She is still on the O2 (.05 liters per minute) but we begun the weaning process. We turn off the O2 for 1 hr intervals 4 times a day. We are hoping to been done with the O2 by Mid-June.
She is getting very plump and is taking 4 oz of formula every four hours. She sleeps very well but every once in a while has a restless night. She seems to do better when she in here own room away from Mom and Dad.
The doctor has given us the green light to allow Clara visitors and we can take her out in public in moderation and to limit direct contact.

Clara's visit to the breathing doctor went very well. He liked what he saw and heard with her lungs and our observations. But he was not willing to completely remove her from the O2. We have decided to gradually reduce and remove the O2 over the next several week. She is now on .05 liters per minute of Oxygen. And starting Monday we will remove her from the O2 for one hour intervals.

Cheers for Now....

Clara relaxing after her bottle Posted by Hello

May 16th

Not much new to report with Clara she is doing very well. We are hoping to "formally" take her off the O2 sometime this week. Clara has learned to pull the prongs out of her nose and make it a pacifier. She has become a night owl, keeping her mother up from 12-4am. Her thrush has cleared up.

Cheers For Now...

Clara has been cruising along just fine. She got another good report from the eye doctor this week. Her ROP continues to improve but she will continue visit the doctor on a weekly basis. Friday she visited Dr. Rowell. She was impressed on how Clara was progressing. Clara weighed 6lbs 6 oz and had a good hemaglobin test but has a case of Fungus Mouth otherwise know as Thrush. We have to swab her mouth with medicine 4 times a day. After talking with the Dr. we are hoping that Clara will be off the O2 by May 16 and then off the heart and breathing monitor by the end of the month. Keep your fingers crossed.
