Clara Judith Sherwood

Well about ten minutes after I posted last night's blog we called to find out that Clara's Blood Pressure dropped and they were having problem getting it back up and she did not have any urine production for several hours. They told us to call back in two hours for an update after the med's kicked in. We called back at 11:00 pm and the med's did not improve the situation. We asked the Doc if we were needed at the hospital and she told us that they were going to reverse the narcotics and then they would call us back to let us know. Well as you know we are "Gun shy" so we presumed the worst and sat and waiting for the phone call back. Ten minutes later the Doc called to let us know the her BP was increasing and she was stable for the moment.
Early this morning we drove up for a visit and hopefully good news. We found out that her BP was still low and no urine output. Krystal decided to stay with her for the day and I physically went to work but mentally I did not leave the nursery.
Currently she is stable and they are using med's to keep her BP up and they are starting to wean her off those med's hoping that she can keep it in the proper range. She has started to urinate in good quanity so they are increasing her IV fluids.
The one piece of news that scares us the most is that they have cultured a Gram negative Rod Bacteria from her blood which indicates that she is septic (Septis (SP??) was Jacob's cause of death). But the doc's and nurse's have reassured us that they feel that they have caught it in time and have begun treating with antibiotics.
