Feb 9th

Clara's nose culture came back positive with a Staph. Muirsa colony, which is highly resistant to antibiotics. So she was moved from the East Nursery to the South Nursery and is in an isolation area. She basically gave up her window view for a quiet area. They do this to protect the other babies in the nursery. If she or other babies become infected there is only one antibiotic that is effective and it can damage the kidneys. So they do everything possible to minimize exposure. To this point she is not infections but colonized, so they will just monitor her for signs and symptoms of an infection. If you have any questions about the difference between signs & symptoms please contact Kelby Fite.
She is taking her feeding well but has had minimal poop, so we expect "big things" today or tomorrow. They are increasing her feeding by 1ml per feeding each day.

Cheers for Now.........
Mike
